Wow…so I haven’t posted in forever! Sorry, I’ve had a lot of personal things going on at home to deal with and writing blog posts has been the last thing on my mind, but I am back and trying to plan some new posts – so if there’s anything particular you’d like to see please comment below and let me know!
On 13th January Stanley somehow turned 10 months old. It’s flown by and I’m now planning his birthday in my head (but I’m not talking about that yet or I might just cry!) So much has happened in the last month it is crazy – he just seems to become more independent by the day and his personality is really starting to shine. It’s sad seeing my little baby disappear but it’s so much fun watching him blossom into a proper little boy.
The most exciting thing to happen in the last month is that Stanley hit a HUGE milestone – his first steps!!! On 26th December 2017, Stanley took his first (very) wibbly wobbly steps and has been gaining confidence ever since (his current record is 12!) – although he knows full well he’s a lot quicker just crawling!!
I honestly cannot believe that he is trying to walk already but I am so proud of him I could burst. He knows exactly what he wants though and will only walk when he wants to – if you try and make him stand when he doesn’t he just flops his legs around until you sit him down, ha!
Because he is getting the hang of walking, I thought it was time for another cute little milestone to be ticked off – getting his little feet measured for his first proper pair of shoes. We went to Clarks even though I was adamant I didn’t want shoes from there and picked him up a cute little pair that I will cherish forever. The picture may look super cute, but in all honesty he was NOT a fan of having his feet measured and thrashed around like a fish out of water!
He hasn’t really said any more words – although I’m sure he is getting very close with ‘ta’ and ‘hiya’ and is just stingy with using them, haha! He has his own little language though and knows how to get what he wants. Isn’t is funny how babies have their own language and they expect you to understand them and do as you’re told?!
Stanley has also learnt where people’s noses are and if you ask where it is he will point to (or more likely grab and refuse to let go of) your nose. It’s so cute and I’m pretty sure he’s only learnt this thanks to his Fisher Price piggy bank toy because the nose plays music and talks when he presses it – I think he now expects everyone’s nose to make a funny noise or sing him a song!!
He still only has 2 teeth but there are 4 that i can see trying to come through on the top – the middle 2 are really swollen and close but they are really taking their time and causing him a lot of trouble bless him. Teething is such a nightmare, and just as you think you’ve found something that works for them it seems to stop and you need to think of a new solution! I’ve recently bought him a Matchstick Monkey to test but so far he doesn’t seem overly fussed by it – I wouldn’t say he dislikes it but he’s not a massive fan at the moment, but I’ll keep trying. Have you found anything good for teething (we’ve tried amber bracelets too, that seemed to work for a little bit with his first 2 teeth but seemed to stop having such an impact after a while).
It seems difficult to write an update at this age, because they are learning so many smaller things that all just add up to them having a huge boost in their confidence and independence. So, as the countdown to the big 12 months commences I’m excited to see how much more learning and growing he can cram in!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and a great start to the new year. And if not, keep focusing on what you want and moving forward one day at a time!! I’m looking forward to trying to get back into the swing with blogging again as it really does give me something to focus on when Stanley is in bed.
